Mechanical Design Engineer – Power Transformers

About the role

Virginia-Georgia Transformer is seeking Mechanical Design Engineers to join its engineering team and contribute to high‑impact power transformer projects across India. The role involves designing, analyzing, and validating mechanical components and assemblies for large‑scale transformers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical parts and structures for power transformers using 2D/3D CAD tools.
• Perform strength, thermal, and vibration analyses to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
• Create detailed fabrication drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
• Validate designs against customer requirements, manufacturing capabilities, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality to meet project timelines.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to design standardization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of mechanical design experience, preferably in power transformer or related heavy‑industry projects.
• Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced engineering environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software for 2D/3D modeling.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical calculations, structural design, and material properties.
• Experience in thermal and vibration analysis.
• Ability to produce accurate fabrication drawings and comprehensive BOMs.
