Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of tooling, welding, and fabrication fixtures for heavy‑engineering applications. The role involves creating innovative, manufacturable solutions while ensuring safety, cost‑efficiency and compliance with engineering standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop tooling, welding and fabrication fixtures for heavy‑engineering projects.
• Create and validate fixture concepts independently, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Perform weld modeling and fixture validation based on engineering requirements.
• Interpret and apply GD&T principles to produce robust design outputs.
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to support fabrication and assembly processes.
• Prepare detailed 3D models, 2D drawings and bills of materials.
• Participate in design reviews and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards, tolerances and production requirements.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles and support shop‑floor implementation and troubleshooting.
• Utilize simulation or validation tools to verify designs.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in tooling fixture design, welding fixtures and weld modeling.
• Strong background in fabrication design within heavy‑engineering environments.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, tolerances and material behavior.
• Proficiency with CAD tools, specifically Creo and Siemens NX.
• Ability to work independently and translate concepts into detailed designs.
• Experience with DFM/DFA and exposure to shop‑floor implementation.
