Manager, Software Development Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a seasoned engineering leader to drive innovative, secure, and reliable acceptance solutions within its Cloud Commerce Products. The Manager, Software Development Engineering will oversee multiple engineering teams, shape architecture, and collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coach two or more engineering teams delivering internal and market‑facing applications and services.
• Guide teams on professionalism, career growth, development standards, automation, and Agile/Lean processes.
• Translate product use cases into industry‑leading design, architecture, and implementation, balancing business and technical priorities.
• Own baseline architecture implementations and collaborate with engineers across the organization.
• Ensure project timelines are met, identify emerging issues, and propose effective solutions.
• Participate in product kick‑off sessions and requirement workshops to assess technology feasibility and resource needs.
• Recruit top talent and continuously improve team performance through regular 1‑on‑1s and career development planning.
• Provide strategic leadership on software‑development methodologies and system architecture.
