Logistics Operations Specialist

About the role

The Logistics Operations Specialist ensures smooth, timely, and cost‑effective execution of export shipments. Working closely with freight forwarders, transporters, customs house agents, vendors and internal teams, the role manages freight quotations, container bookings, customs clearance, shipment tracking and related reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain competitive freight rates, prepare quotations and finalize shipments with freight forwarders.
• Maintain RFQs in the system and support onboarding of approximately five new vendors per year.
• Coordinate timely container bookings and ensure sound, seaworthy containers are available.
• Place containers at the factory according to the shipment schedule.
• Liaise with customs house agents for prompt customs clearance and handover.
• Track shipments from empty container pickup to final destination under agreed Incoterms.
• Update the Freight Tracker with accurate shipment details.
• Verify vendor invoices and forward them to Finance for payment.
• Maintain freight and invoice records for reconciliation.
• Prepare logistics, freight, shipment and vendor management reports as required.

Required profile

• Graduate in Commerce, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in export logistics, freight forwarding, international shipping or EXIM.
• Experience handling ocean export shipments, containerised cargo and coordination with freight forwarders, transporters and customs agents.
• Good written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder coordination.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
• Working knowledge of ERP/SAP or other logistics management systems.
