Legal Manager

About the role

We are looking for a commercially sharp Legal Manager to own end‑to‑end legal support for Housr’s pan‑India operations. Reporting to the Founder’s Office, you will handle real‑estate transactions, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct title due diligence and advise on land‑use, zoning and municipal regulations; draft, review and negotiate lease‑and‑license agreements, lease deeds and property management agreements.
• Oversee execution, notarisation and registration of property documents to ensure legal validity.
• Draft, review and negotiate vendor, service‑provider, partnership and non‑disclosure agreements; maintain standardised contract templates.
• Prepare and maintain occupancy and licence agreements, customer terms; advise on consumer‑protection, refund and security‑deposit matters.
• Track central, state and municipal laws relevant to managed accommodation and corporate operations; keep contracts and practices up‑to‑date with regulatory changes.
• Advise on lawful handling of KYC and personal data in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
• Draft and vet legal notices, manage recovery, eviction and other disputes with owners, residents and vendors; supervise external counsel.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal risk across pan‑India operations.
• Partner with business development, finance, sales and operations teams to provide commercially aware legal guidance.
• Maintain a structured central repository of agreements, KYC documents and legal records.

Required profile

• LLB from a recognised institution (LLM is an advantage).
• 4–6 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial and/or real‑estate law, preferably in real‑estate, hospitality or high‑growth start‑up environments.
• Strong understanding of contract law, property and registration law, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast‑paced environment.
