Legal Manager (Banking Collections)

About the role

The Legal Manager will support the bank's collections function by designing and executing cost‑effective legal strategies to recover dues from defaulting borrowers, co‑borrowers and guarantors. The role requires close collaboration with the collections team, law firms and judicial bodies to ensure timely and compliant recovery actions.

Key responsibilities

• Draft notices, replies, complaints, petitions, process notes and internal policies.
• Research and disseminate relevant case law, amendments and regulatory updates affecting the banking sector.
• Initiate appropriate legal actions (civil, criminal, arbitration, NCLT, ODR) based on borrower profiles.
• Track, monitor and report on the status of filed cases and pending matters.
• Empanel and coordinate with external legal vendors and advocates.
• Attend court hearings, police stations and regulatory offices as the bank’s representative under POA.
• Prepare regular MIS reports on case developments and adverse orders.
• Maintain billing and cost records for legal services.

Required profile

• Law graduate (LL.B. or equivalent).
• Understanding of banking policies and collection practices.
• Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
• Motivated, results‑oriented attitude.
