Legal Associate – Asset Management

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Legal Associate to join its Asset Management (AM) legal team in Mumbai. The role focuses on reviewing, drafting, and negotiating client‑facing documentation for investment funds and supporting the broader AM business across EMEA.

Key responsibilities

• Review and draft platform agreements, terms of business, account opening documents, investment management agreements and NDAs.
• Negotiate commercial agreements with J.P. Morgan clients in collaboration with global and cross‑functional teams.
• Provide legal support to sales, client service and other internal stakeholders.
• Serve as the first point of contact for EMEA AM business issues related to distribution and client documentation.
• Maintain and update client‑facing agreement templates and coordinate feedback with external counsel, compliance, and internal lawyers.
• Conduct legal, regulatory and market research and assist on special projects and product initiatives.

Required profile

• Fluent written and spoken English with excellent communication skills.
• Law degree and membership in a jurisdictional bar association; compliance with local licensing requirements.
• Minimum of 3 years of legal practice experience.
• Team player with strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Self‑starter capable of multitasking in a fast‑paced environment.
