Lead Statistical Programmer

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Lead Statistical Programmer to join its Analytics & Intelligence function in India. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality statistical programming for clinical studies, supporting trial statisticians, and driving innovation through data science and machine learning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review programming dataset specifications.
• Coordinate all programmers on a study, ensuring they receive required inputs.
• Provide solutions to programming issues and implement efficient approaches.
• Maintain effective relationships with cross‑functional teams.
• Communicate deliverable status, risks, and mitigation strategies to project stakeholders.
• Contribute to statistical programming standards, knowledge sharing, and related tasks.

Required profile

• Relevant education and experience to perform the role independently.
• Extensive experience in requirements analysis, resource estimation, planning, tracking deliverables, and activity coordination.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with global teams.
• Commitment to GxP compliance, SOP adherence, and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• SAS programming, including macro development.
• Good working knowledge of statistical concepts.
• Understanding of regulatory requirements such as GCP and ICH.
• Familiarity with industry standards like CDISC.
