Lead Engineer – Instrumentation & Controls

About the role

The Lead Engineer – Instrumentation & Controls will drive the engineering, design, and execution of instrumentation and control systems for steam power projects, including boilers, turbines, generators, ESP and FGD units. You will shape control system architecture, select instruments, develop logic, and produce functional documentation while coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Execute I&C engineering scope for steam power assets (boiler, turbine, generator, ESP, FGD).
• Develop and review control system architecture, instrument index, I/O lists, cause‑and‑effect diagrams, control narratives and functional logic.
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, instrument data sheets, control philosophy, alarm/trip matrices, interlock logic, loop diagrams, wiring and cabinet interface documents.
• Define technical requirements for field instruments and support control philosophy development for plant and auxiliary equipment.
• Coordinate interfaces between package systems and plant‑level DCS/PLC platforms, ensuring alignment with process, mechanical, electrical and commissioning teams.
• Review supplier drawings and technical offers for compliance with project specifications and standards.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, FAT readiness reviews and technical discussions with customers and partners.
• Support commissioning and field issue resolution by analysing control behaviour, instrumentation faults and logic performance.

Required profile

• Strong domain knowledge of power‑plant systems and control philosophy.
• Proven ability to lead engineering activities for retrofit, modernization and service projects.
• Capability to work independently on assigned tasks with limited supervision and to seek guidance on complex decisions.
• Excellent coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams and with external suppliers.
