Lead Electrical Designer – Power Transformers

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Electrical Designer to head the electrical design of large power transformers at our Vadodara facility. The role focuses on internal connections, layout optimisation, and advanced electromagnetic analysis to meet global standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process for power transformers, including internal connections and layouts.
• Apply knowledge of magnetic fields, flux, permeability, hysteresis and eddy‑current losses to optimise designs.
• Ensure compliance with ISO, IEC, IEEE and other relevant international standards.
• Conduct DFMEA assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Perform failure analysis using RCA, 8D, 5‑Why and fishbone techniques.
• Utilise FEA tools to simulate electromagnetic fields, thermal behaviour and mechanical stresses.
• Collaborate with engineering, production and external stakeholders to refine designs.
• Maintain comprehensive design documentation, specifications, test reports and compliance records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 + years of experience in electrical design, specifically power transformer design.
• Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a proactive, innovative mindset.

Required skills

• Power transformer electrical design and internal layout expertise.
• Electromagnetics and its application in transformer design.
• DFMEA and failure analysis techniques (RCA, 8D, 5‑Why, fishbone).
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools for electromagnetic and thermal simulation.
• Knowledge of ISO, IEC, IEEE standards.
• Lean concepts (Kaizen, 5S, problem‑solving tools).
