Lead Design Engineer

About the role

Bosch Global Software Technologies is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to drive mechanical development of new products. You will ensure that designs meet performance, quality, manufacturing and cost targets while integrating mechanical and electronic subsystems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead new product mechanical design, defining isolation clearances, creepage distances and reinforced isolation per IEC 60664-1.
• Coordinate system and vehicle integration, finalising electrical interfaces for power and communication.
• Manage design‑to‑line activities, applying modular base concepts and release management for interconnect technologies (TIM, glue, potting, laser cleaning, plasma treatment).
• Drive PCBA integration, specifying PCB technology, solder resist, HSP usage, layer stack‑up and taboo zones.
• Develop brazed cooler and cooling concepts, leveraging HPDC processes and material impact knowledge.
• Perform DFMEA, failure mode analysis and risk assessments throughout development.
• Define BOMs, special characteristics and collaborate with quality for assurance.
• Lead industrialisation discussions, handling change management and impact analysis on technical and commercial aspects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 9–11 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with electrical, manufacturing and quality teams.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CREO CAD software.
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes: injection molding, die‑casting, sheet‑metal forming and machining.
• Experience with DFMEA and failure mode analysis.
• Understanding of IEC 60664‑1 isolation requirements.
• Expertise in PCBA integration, TIM, glue, potting and plasma treatment.
• Material expertise in polymers, sheet‑metal and die‑cast components.
