Lathe Operator / Mechanical Fitter – Kalyani, West Bengal

About the role

We are expanding our manufacturing facility in Kalyani, West Bengal and are seeking experienced Lathe Operators and Mechanical Fitters to join our production team. Both roles involve hands‑on work in a fast‑paced workshop environment, supporting the fabrication and machining of engineering components.

Key responsibilities

• Operate conventional and centre lathe machines to perform turning, facing, boring, threading, grooving, drilling and chamfering operations.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings to set up jobs, select appropriate tools and define machining parameters.
• Measure finished parts with vernier calipers, micrometers and other precision instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
• Perform routine machine safety checks and basic maintenance.
• Carry out mechanical fitting and fabrication tasks including marking, layout, cutting, grinding, drilling, assembly and alignment of components.
• Inspect work using measuring tools and verify compliance with tolerances.

Required profile

• 5–6 years of practical experience operating lathe machines or performing mechanical fitting.
• Proficiency in reading engineering/fabrication drawings and translating dimensions to the workshop.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to safety and quality standards.
