Lab Technician

About the role

Graphcore is looking for an Electronics Laboratory Technician to join the Bristol lab team. You will ensure that the laboratory facilities are fully operational, safe, and ready to support cross‑functional engineering projects in AI hardware development.

Key responsibilities

• Install, set up, and calibrate electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and power supplies.
• Execute preventative maintenance programmes and keep the lab environment clean and compliant with health‑and‑safety standards.
• Maintain ESD control measures and manage asset inventory, including goods in/out processes.
• Support engineering teams by configuring test benches, preparing equipment for hardware bring‑up, validation and characterisation.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
• Perform board, cable and wire modifications, including PCB repair to IPC‑7711/21 and J‑STD‑001 standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in an electronics laboratory environment.
• Strong understanding of ESD prevention, health & safety requirements and safe working practices.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and meet project timelines.
• Pragmatic problem‑solver with a willingness to mentor junior staff.

Required skills

• Operation and calibration of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and power supplies.
• ESD control and prevention techniques.
• PCB repair and modification to IPC‑7711/21 and J‑STD‑001 standards.
• Cable and wire‑harness assembly to IPC‑620 specifications.
• IPC‑A‑610 inspection procedures.
• Asset management and inventory control.
