HR Generalist – Global People Operations

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, people‑focused HR Generalist to join BSI’s People team in Mumbai. In this position you will deliver end‑to‑end HR support across multiple countries, ensuring a consistent employee experience while respecting local employment requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary HR contact for employees and managers in assigned countries.
• Manage the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, contractual changes, benefits administration, leave management, payroll coordination, and off‑boarding.
• Maintain accurate employee records and country‑specific documentation in HR systems.
• Provide first‑line guidance on HR policies, procedures, and employee‑related matters.
• Support managers with routine people processes and best‑practice advice.
• Coordinate payroll inputs and assist with monthly payroll activities.
• Assist with employee‑relations issues, escalating complex cases as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local labour laws and internal policies.
• Contribute to regional and global HR initiatives such as leadership development, system changes, and performance processes.
• Support HR projects and continuous improvement of HR processes.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a generalist or operational HR role.
• Strong understanding of employment law, HR policies, and people processes.
• Experience working in a global or matrixed organisation.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organisational skills.
• Professionalism, integrity, and discretion handling sensitive information.
• Business‑level English and proficiency in the local language(s) of the assigned countries.
• HR‑related qualification or certification is highly desirable.
