Heavy Duty Mechanic – Offshore Pre‑Commissioning

About the role

Saipem is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join the Mag Jupiter offshore project. The role focuses on operating, maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing pipeline pre‑commissioning equipment to ensure reliability throughout the campaign.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor suction pumps, flooding pumps, chemical injection units and liquid nitrogen spread as per procedures.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment used in pipeline pre‑commissioning.
• Inspect, service and repair pumps, liquid nitrogen spread systems and associated components before, during and after operations.
• Maintain equipment service records and support spare‑parts inventory tracking.
• Ensure proper alignment, coupling, sealing and leak checks on all equipment connections.
• Coordinate with operators and supervisors for smooth hand‑over and operation readiness.
• Follow safety practices and permit‑to‑work procedures at all times.

Required profile

• Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade certification.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with pumps, compressors and dryers in oil & gas or pipeline pre‑commissioning projects.
• Physically fit for offshore conditions and able to read technical manuals and drawings.
• Good communication skills in English and ability to work in a team.

Required skills

• Experience with centrifugal pumps (e.g., Caprari 500 m³/hr, CAT C27 engine).
• Experience with high‑pressure piston pumps (e.g., MIDIS/Woma 550 ARP, CAT C18 engine).
• Experience with diesel generators (e.g., Atlas Copco, Perkins 1104C engine).
• Experience with air compressors (e.g., Atlas Copco XRYS 1260 CD7).
• Experience with desiccant air dryers (Twin‑pot, 1600 scfm+).
