Hatchery Technician

About the role

The Hatchery Technician supports daily hatchery operations, ensuring optimal incubation conditions and high chick quality. This position works closely with breeder farms, production, quality, maintenance, and dispatch teams to maintain biosecurity, hygiene, and overall hatchery performance.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and handle hatching eggs, checking for cleanliness, cracks, and suitability.
• Operate and monitor incubators, hatchers, setters, and related equipment, maintaining temperature, humidity, ventilation, and turning schedules.
• Transfer eggs between equipment according to the hatchery schedule and monitor hatch development.
• Handle newly hatched chicks, assist with vaccination, debeaking, sorting, counting, and dispatch.
• Dispose of unhatched eggs, shells, and waste while maintaining strict biosecurity and sanitation.
• Clean and disinfect hatchery rooms, equipment, trays, carts, and work areas.
• Report equipment malfunctions promptly and support routine maintenance and calibration checks.
• Maintain accurate records of egg quantities, fertility, hatchability, chick quality, mortality, vaccination, and dispatch.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, or related field (preferred).
• 2‑5 years of experience in a commercial poultry hatchery.
• Physical fitness to work in a hatchery environment and ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify abnormalities in eggs, embryos, and chicks.
