General Manager – Contract Management

About the role

The General Manager – Contract Management will lead all phases of contract handling for construction projects, ensuring that agreements are sound, risks are mitigated, and project delivery aligns with budget and timeline expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to define project scope, budget, and schedule before contract finalisation.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify and address potential contractual issues early.
• Participate in the selection of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, evaluating proposals and qualifications.
• Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, covering scope, pricing, payment terms, warranties, and termination clauses.
• Oversee the full contract lifecycle—from award through completion and close‑out—maintaining accurate records.
• Monitor contractor performance against budgets and timelines, managing change orders and cost adjustments.
• Facilitate communication on contractual matters, resolve disputes, and ensure smooth project handover.
• Maintain an organised filing system and analyse contract performance for future improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in construction contract management or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of construction budgeting, risk assessment, and legal contract standards.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
