Full Stack Java Developer – MES Solutions

About the role

Join the international PIT development team at ZEISS Vision Care and help extend a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) for lens production. You will work in a modern hybrid‑cloud microservice environment, collaborating with global teams to deliver high‑quality software for mass‑production processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain MES software for lens manufacturing, implementing system functions, controls and algorithms.
• Write unit tests to achieve solid test coverage and ensure code quality.
• Participate in agile projects using Azure DevOps for planning, tracking and CI/CD.
• Deploy new or updated versions of the solution to edge environments.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across services using SQL, MongoDB, Kafka and Docker.
• Enhance monitoring and logging (Grafana, Loki, Mimir) to identify root causes.
• Collaborate with on‑premises support, provide training on new features, and create documentation.
• Report bugs and implement code‑level fixes.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years (ideally 7 years) of software development experience.
• Strong teamwork, customer‑oriented mindset and good English communication skills.
• Experience working in international, multi‑disciplinary teams.

• Advanced Java programming.
• Modern IDEs such as IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse or Visual Studio.
• Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
• SQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Monitoring tools: Grafana, Loki, Mimir.
• Version control with GIT.
• Front‑end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular) – optional.
• Java frameworks: Quarkus, Spring.
• Unit testing and mocking.
