Fincrime Screening Data Scientist - AVP

About the role

Barclays is seeking a Fincrime Screening Data Scientist at AVP level to support its Financial Crime Screening operation. You will develop high‑quality data forensics, apply advanced analytics, and ensure compliance with regulatory and sanctions requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Apply statistical techniques, machine learning, and analytical approaches to solve complex business and operational challenges.
• Write scalable Python and SQL code to extract, transform, analyze, and visualise large datasets using Power BI and Tableau.
• Produce data forensics and advanced analytics to support operational initiatives and automation projects.
• Design, develop and maintain analytical and machine‑learning solutions that generate insights and support data‑driven decision‑making.
• Collaborate with data‑engineering and technology teams to optimise data acquisition, transformation and pipeline performance.

Required profile

• Strong quantitative, statistical and analytical skills with experience handling large datasets.
• Ability to communicate findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive attitude to change.
• Understanding of financial crime preventative measures, compliance and risk frameworks.
