Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Financial Controller to own the day‑to‑day finance function of a Bangalore‑based aerospace startup. This individual‑contributor role will be the first dedicated finance hire, responsible for building the company’s books from scratch and keeping them audit‑ready as the business scales.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain audit‑ready books of accounts, establishing internal controls and finance processes.
• Maintain real‑time liquidity visibility, track burn rate, manage working capital, and produce cash‑flow forecasts, budgets and variance reports.
• Implement project‑based costing for aerospace components, manage WIP valuation and inventory controls.
• Handle GST (including refunds), TDS, statutory audits and all related filings end‑to‑end.
• Ensure compliance for iDEX grants, Startup India benefits, and export/import documentation.
• Prepare financial documentation to support fundraising, grant disbursements and partnership due diligence.
• Provide financial data and analysis to the Lead of Finance and founding team for strategic decisions.
• Set up best‑practice finance processes to improve turnaround times across departments.

Required profile

• Qualified CFA, Chartered Accountant (ICAI) or MBA in Finance.
• 3–6 years of finance experience, with at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in compilation of financial statements.
• Hands‑on experience building or strengthening financial systems and processes.
• Comfortable managing complex cash flows and fund flows independently.
