Financial Controller

About the role

Corporate Stays is seeking a remote Financial Controller to lead the accounting function for its operations across Canada and Latin America. This full‑time freelance role will ensure financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls while supporting the company’s rapid international growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all accounting operations for Canada and LATAM, ensuring accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
• Review and validate financial statements in line with local regulations and corporate standards.
• Maintain and enforce robust internal controls and accounting policies.
• Manage, mentor, and coordinate accounting teams across multiple regions, acting as the primary escalation point for accounting issues.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audits, and statutory requirements; coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Identify financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, HR, and Executive teams on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Provide strategic insights to leadership to support business decisions and growth.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent qualification is a strong plus.
• Proven experience managing accounting functions and teams in a multi‑regional environment.
• Strong understanding of Canadian and Latin American tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
