Engineering Manager – Onboarding & Activation

About the role

Bitwarden is building a new India Engineering Center of Excellence and needs an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Onboarding & Activation team. You will own the end‑to‑end user journey from first run through subscription, ensuring a frictionless, value‑driven experience that drives growth and retention.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, develop, and retain a high‑performing engineering team.
• Set measurable goals, run team ceremonies, and keep the sprint‑ready backlog well defined.
• Own escalation and triage for production issues, community‑reported bugs, and enterprise escalations.
• Collaborate with Design, Product, Architecture and other engineering teams to align priorities.
• Identify process friction points and implement improvements for efficiency and quality.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and create individualized growth plans.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of overall experience with 5‑8 years leading engineering teams or complex product initiatives.
• Experience managing distributed or cross‑regional teams in a global product engineering environment.
• Proven ability to influence multiple stakeholders and deliver across engineering organizations.
• Strong understanding of Agile development, modern engineering practices, and product delivery lifecycles.
• Coaching‑oriented leadership style with a track record of building high‑performing teams.

Required skills

• CI/CD pipelines and automation/release engineering.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar project‑management tools.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tooling (e.g., Claude Code).
• Knowledge of BRE, SRE, DevOps, and Platform Engineering practices.
