Engineering Manager (Ingestion)

About the role

At Databricks, the Engineering Manager (Ingestion) leads the Connect organization in India, driving the development of point‑and‑click data connectors that feed the Lakehouse. The role partners with product, design and surface teams to embed ingestion capabilities across dashboards, notebooks, SQL and AI interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Solve large‑scale business problems by delivering robust ingestion services.
• Ensure consistent delivery against milestones while working closely with product leadership.
• Evolve the team structure to support long‑term initiatives and maintain strong communication architecture.
• Manage technical debt and make long‑term architecture decisions aligned with the product roadmap.
• Lead technical, product and design discussions and drive cloud‑native service scalability.
• Build, manage and operate highly scalable cloud services.
• Coach and mentor emerging leaders, providing growth opportunities.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience building and supporting large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven ability to build, grow and manage high‑performance engineering teams.
• Experience attracting and hiring engineers who meet Databricks hiring principles.
• Background in building and running cloud platforms or rapid learning ability in SaaS environments.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration with product management and direct customer engagement.
