Engineering Manager - Backend

About the role

At Databricks we enable data teams to solve the world’s toughest problems by building the best data and AI infrastructure platform. As one of the first Engineering Managers in the Software Engineering team in India, you will lead a team that builds infrastructure and products for the Databricks platform at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Hire great engineers to build an outstanding team.
• Ensure high technical standards by instituting processes such as architecture reviews and testing, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence.
• Work with engineering and product leadership to define a long‑term roadmap.
• Coordinate execution and collaborate across teams to unblock cross‑cutting projects.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience with large‑scale distributed systems, including testing, monitoring, and SLA management.
• Extensive experience as a Software Engineering Leader, building and scaling engineering teams from the ground up.
• Proven track record managing strong software engineering teams.
• Ability to partner with product, sales, and customers to develop innovative features and products.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a related field.
