Engineering & Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the engineering integrity of bp’s research and development laboratory and pilot plant equipment in Bengaluru. This hybrid position combines leadership of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team with hands‑on operational focus to ensure safe, reliable and compliant delivery of all R&D assets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the safe and effective delivery of engineering and maintenance activities for laboratory and pilot‑plant equipment, meeting health, safety, legislative and commercial requirements.
• Act as the accountable engineering and maintenance person for the site engineering team, ensuring compliance with Group Operating Standards and bp engineering practices.
• Support R&D operations to minimise downtime and optimise asset availability.
• Provide technical query support to operating teams and oversee major engineering and maintenance projects.
• Maintain and improve mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering standards within the R&D environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading a multi‑disciplinary engineering team in an R&D or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and instrumentation engineering principles.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with health, safety and legislative requirements.
• Experience in managing capital projects and reliability improvement initiatives.
