Engineering Analyst, Trust and Safety

About the role

The Trust and Safety team at Google protects users and partners across more than 40 languages by combating spam, fraud, and abuse. As an Engineering Analyst you will help secure the payment environment, investigate violations, and develop data‑driven risk mitigation solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and mitigate payment fraud and abuse across Google products and services.
• Investigate incidents, identify patterns, and generate risk‑management solutions.
• Perform statistical analysis on payments and risk data, collaborating with Engineering and Product to improve tools and signals.
• Assess product vulnerability, design and implement fraud‑prevention strategies.
• Work with cross‑functional global teams—including Engineers, Product Managers, Legal and Policy—to launch risk‑reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of data‑analysis experience (trend identification, summary statistics, insight generation).
• At least 2 years of project‑management experience defining scope, goals and deliverables.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline.
• Preferred: 4 years in the payments industry focusing on risk or fraud management.
• Preferred: 2 years experience with SQL, R, Python or C++.
• Preferred: 2 years experience with machine‑learning systems.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis, ML libraries (e.g., Scikit‑learn), programming languages, Large Language Models or Generative AI.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and attention‑to‑detail in a fast‑changing environment.
