Engineer - Plumbing and Fire Protection

About the role

The Engineer – Plumbing & Fire Protection is responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the installation of plumbing and fire protection systems across a range of projects. You will work closely with architects, project managers, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed designs, plans, and specifications for plumbing and fire protection systems in line with local codes and regulations.
• Interpret architectural drawings, evaluate project requirements, and determine system sizing and scope.
• Conduct site visits to inspect installation progress and verify compliance with approved designs.
• Supervise installation activities, providing guidance to contractors and ensuring industry standards are met.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure drop, and flow rates.
• Troubleshoot system issues during construction and post‑completion phases.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of codes, standards, and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate with the Local GCC Head of MEP, WSP India, and WSP HK teams on design reviews, peer reviews, and risk identification.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in plumbing and fire protection system design.
• Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and CDM requirements.
• Ability to conduct technical and peer reviews, and to coordinate complex design issues.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with multidisciplinary teams and client representatives.
