Embedded C++ & PLC Automation Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Embedded C++ & PLC Automation Engineer to join Bosch’s Bangalore software centre. The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining automated integration test cases for ctrlX PLC IO modules and accessories, ensuring seamless hardware‑software integration.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse customer Functional Requirements and Technical Design Packages to define integration test scope and strategy.
• Design, develop and maintain automated integration test cases in Embedded C++ for ctrlX PLC IO modules.
• Validate hardware‑software integration and industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT CoE, EtherCAT EoE, CAN, M‑Bus, RS232/RS485.
• Perform integration and system‑level testing on remote hardware setups located in Germany.
• Debug and troubleshoot integration issues in collaboration with firmware, hardware and Germany‑based engineering teams.
• Develop and enhance reusable C++ test frameworks, utilities and automation to improve test efficiency and coverage.
• Maintain test documentation, defect reports and requirement traceability while complying with quality and release processes.
• Mentor junior engineers, participate in technical reviews and drive continuous improvement of integration testing practices.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in embedded software development and test automation.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of software lifecycle, unit testing and integration testing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams across locations.

Required skills

• Embedded C++ (C++17) programming.
• PLC IO modules and accessories.
• Linux‑based embedded systems and runtime environments.
• Industrial communication protocols: EtherCAT CoE, EtherCAT EoE, CAN, M‑Bus, RS232/RS485.
• Debugging and troubleshooting on target hardware.
• Version control systems, preferably Git.
• Test framework development and automation.
• Cross‑compilation, build systems and deployment on embedded targets.
• Multithreading and memory optimisation in Embedded C++.
