Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed electrical layouts, MV/LV schematics and specifications that meet project requirements and engineering standards. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into overall project designs.

Key responsibilities

• Design electrical layouts, MV/LV schematics and specifications in line with project requirements and standards.
• Select appropriate materials, components, cable sizes and systems, ensuring compliance with IEC, NEC, IS, BS, IEEE and local codes.
• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and Request for Quotations (RFQs) for electrical procurement.
• Perform power distribution, load‑balancing, cable voltage‑drop, fault‑current, transformer, DG & UPS capacity and short‑circuit calculations.
• Conduct electrical load analysis and verify mechanical integrity of cables, conduits and supports.
• Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire‑fighting and instrumentation engineers for integrated design.
• Engage with contractors and vendors for design reviews, procurement and installation drawing preparation.
• Collaborate with CAD and BIM engineers to produce detailed 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, progress reports and technical presentations.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of international electrical standards (IEC, NEC, IS, BS, IEEE).
• Experience in preparing BOQ, RFQs and technical documentation.
• Ability to perform detailed electrical calculations and load analyses.
• Proven capability to work with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Commitment to staying current with regulatory changes and industry best practices.
