Duty Medical Officer

About the role

The Duty Medical Officer provides comprehensive clinical care across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and intensive care settings. The role demands rapid response to medical emergencies, coordination with specialists, and meticulous documentation to ensure high‑quality patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Examine, assess, diagnose, and treat patients in OPD, IPD, Emergency, and ICU.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies, including Code Blue and trauma cases.
• Stabilize critically ill patients and liaise with consultants for further management.
• Monitor admitted patients, record clinical progress, and update medical records.
• Prescribe medications and investigations in line with hospital protocols.
• Assist consultants during clinical procedures and ensure proper handover during shift changes.
• Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, NABH standards, and legal documentation requirements.
• Participate in clinical meetings, CMEs, audits, and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• MBBS degree (mandatory) with valid State Medical Council/NMC registration.
• Freshers or 1–5 years of clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (mandatory); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Ability to work rotational shifts, including nights and holidays.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction with patients and relatives.
