Director, IT Platform Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a Director of IT Platform Engineering to lead and scale a world‑class platform organization that underpins Palo Alto Networks’ security products. The role combines hands‑on technical leadership with strategic oversight, ensuring our cloud, compute, storage and networking infrastructure is secure, reliable and production‑ready.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on technical leadership and drive engineering execution across global teams.
• Hire, mentor and retain a high‑performing, diverse group of platform and infrastructure software engineers.
• Design, build and scale a secure platform spanning cloud, compute, storage and networking layers using PaaS and Infrastructure as Code.
• Act as “Customer 0”, validating and hardening internal tools and influencing product road‑maps.
• Partner with product teams to integrate engineering tools and deliver seamless platform outcomes.
• Implement comprehensive service monitoring across compute, storage, networking and application layers.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale platform or infrastructure engineering organizations.
• Hands‑on leader who thrives in ambiguous environments and drives results.
• Strong “Customer 0” mindset with a focus on security and production readiness.
• Ability to mentor technical talent and foster a results‑oriented culture.
• Experience working with global, cross‑functional teams.
