Director, Denials Management & Follow‑up

About the role
R1 is seeking a Director to lead the Denials Management and Follow‑up function within its Backend Operations team in Chennai. Reporting to the Senior Director, you will be part of the senior leadership group responsible for aligning operations with the company’s strategic goals and values.
Key responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership to a span of up to 800 FTEs, including both DR and non‑DR staff.
- Coach teams to identify out‑of‑scope inquiries and take appropriate actions.
- Set performance goals linked to business objectives and monitor progress using appropriate metrics.
- Identify, approve, and implement process improvements to enhance customer experience.
- Maintain deep knowledge of client needs and manage client relationships, including upselling opportunities.
- Oversee P&L management, ensuring close watch on LLR and financial performance.
- Lead high‑impact projects and ensure delivery against the scope of work (SOW).
Required profile
- Extensive experience in end‑to‑end revenue cycle management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proven ability to lead large, complex teams and drive performance.
- Strong analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
