Design Engineer

About the role

Oceaneering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to create and develop products, devices, assemblies, or systems based on customer specifications. The role involves concept creation, detailed design, validation, and documentation while ensuring high‑quality, on‑time deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Study drawings, CAD models and technical documents to understand product requirements.
• Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications, then design equipment that meets those specs.
• Produce concept sketches, detailed designs, calculations, manufacturing drawings, bills of material and related technical documents.
• Refine existing designs and develop new solutions to improve product performance.
• Interpret and apply industry codes and standards such as ASME, DNV, API, and AISC.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis for simple problems.
• Manage technical changes in PLM/PDM systems and ensure compliance with engineering processes.
• Communicate progress regularly to customers and guarantee quality‑controlled engineering deliveries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant design experience.
• Intermediate to expert proficiency with SolidWorks and PLM/PDM tools.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and engineering calculation software.
• Familiarity with mechanical industry codes/standards (ASME, DNV, API, AISC).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, and planning skills.
