Design Engineer – Casting (Automotive EV)

About the role

We are looking for a Design Engineer specialized in casting to develop aluminum and magnesium components for electric‑vehicle powertrain systems. The role involves creating detailed 3D models, ensuring manufacturability, and supporting the product from prototype to production.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop cast components for eAxle, reducer, HV motor, inverter, OBC/DCDC, actuators and related EV parts.
• Create 3D models and detailed drawings using CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles, define GD&T per ASME Y14.5, and perform tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Collaborate with CAE, manufacturing, tool design, and suppliers throughout the development cycle.
• Support prototype, tooling, validation and production activities, and manage product data in PLM systems.

Required profile

• 4‑8 years of experience in casting design within the automotive or EV sector.
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of high‑pressure, gravity and sand die‑casting processes.
• Familiarity with PLM tools such as Teamcenter, Enovia or 3DX.

Required skills

• CATIA V5 (Part Design, Assembly, Drafting)
• High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC), Gravity Die Casting, Sand Casting
• Core & cavity concepts, draft angle, rib, boss, wall‑thickness optimization
• Shrinkage and machining allowance calculations
• GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis
• DFM/DFAP application
• PLM tools: Teamcenter, Enovia, 3DX
• Aluminum and magnesium casting expertise
• Injection molding (advantageous)
• Machining process understanding and surface‑treatment requirements
