Data Science Manager

About the role

Cohere Health is looking for a hands‑on Data Science Manager to lead a team building AI‑driven healthcare enterprise applications. You will combine people leadership with deep technical expertise to deliver scalable, data‑intensive solutions that improve payment integrity and clinical decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers.
• Design and implement event‑driven, asynchronous architectures for large‑scale system integration.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, DevOps and Data Engineering to embed AI/ML into user‑facing applications.
• Provide technical leadership on AWS services (Lambda, EC2, EMR, S3, Athena, Batch, Textract, Comprehend, Bedrock).
• Drive project scoping, effort estimation, planning and SDLC best practices, including code reviews and architectural direction.

Required profile

• 7+ years delivering AI/ML solutions and 3+ years managing technical teams.
• Strong communication and storytelling ability to translate complex AI concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ownership mindset with end‑to‑end accountability from concept through deployment and monitoring.
• Experience working in fast‑paced, cross‑functional environments.

Required skills

• Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib, regex) and advanced SQL.
• ML algorithm development (SVM, CART, Bagging, Boosting) and text‑mining techniques.
• Prompt engineering and GenAI for classification, semantic embeddings and data enrichment.
• Object‑Oriented Programming and custom Python package creation for serverless applications.
• AWS services: Lambda, EC2, EMR, S3, Athena, Batch, Textract, Comprehend.
