Costing Engineer / Estimation Engineer / Quantity Surveyor

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Costing Engineer / Estimation Engineer / Quantity Surveyor to join our fast‑growing deep‑technology start‑up in Chennai. The role involves preparing accurate quantity take‑offs, bills of quantities and cost estimates to support project delivery for advanced industrial 3D‑printing solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed quantity take‑offs and material calculations from drawings, specifications and project documents.
• Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and comprehensive cost estimates for each project.
• Conduct rate analysis for materials, labour, equipment and related activities.
• Obtain, compare and evaluate quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
• Assist in the preparation of commercial proposals and project quotations.
• Coordinate with design, project, procurement and site teams to clarify technical and quantity requirements.
• Track material quantities, project costs and variations against estimates and support variation statements.
• Verify subcontractor measurements and bills against actual work completed.
• Maintain organized documentation of estimates, BOQs, quotations and cost records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction or a related discipline.
• 1.5–2 years of experience in estimation, costing, quantity surveying or commercial functions.
• Strong understanding of BOQ preparation, quantity take‑off and rate analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
