About the role
The JW Marriott Hotel Kolkata is looking for a motivated Commis to support the kitchen team in delivering high‑quality food service. You will work in a fast‑paced environment, preparing ingredients, cooking under supervision, and maintaining hygiene standards.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring and mixing.
- Cook and assemble dishes according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
- Operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers safely.
- Monitor food temperature, test doneness and ensure food safety.
- Set up and break down work stations, serve food in proper portions, and maintain a clean kitchen area.
- Follow company safety policies, report incidents and complete required safety training.
Required profile
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- At least 1 year of related kitchen or food‑service experience.
- No supervisory experience required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend and lift objects up to 25 lb for an entire shift.
Required skills
- Operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves and fryers.
- Food preparation and portioning techniques.
- Food safety, hygiene and temperature monitoring.
