About the role
Barclays is looking for a Cloud Data Engineer to lead the evolution of its infrastructure and deployment pipelines. You will build and manage robust, scalable, and secure cloud solutions that support digital products for millions of customers.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes ensuring data accuracy, accessibility and security.
- Manage container platforms such as OpenShift and Kubernetes, and oversee distributed computing environments.
- Collaborate with data scientists to develop and deploy machine learning models.
- Develop processing and analysis algorithms suited to large‑scale data volumes.
Required profile
- Strong technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure, container orchestration and big‑data architectures.
- Experience leading or supervising a team, allocating work and supporting professional development.
- Ability to drive continuous improvement and adhere to risk, control and compliance standards.
Required skills
- OpenShift, Kubernetes
- AWS services (Databricks, S3, EC2, Lambda, RDS, Glue, Athena, Step Functions)
- Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, Spark, Yarn, Hive, Impala)
- SQL and advanced SQL
- Python programming and shell scripting
