Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – University Finance Leader

About the role

The University is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and ensure the long‑term financial sustainability of the institution. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor and governing bodies, the CFO will oversee all financial activities, including budgeting, cash‑flow management, compliance and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the University’s financial strategy aligned with institutional goals.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes.
• Oversee accounting, preparation of balance sheets, income statements and cash‑flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act, GST laws, Societies/Trust/Company Act and manage statutory filings, TDS and audits.
• Manage treasury, investments, research grants, endowments, donations and CSR funds.
• Supervise payroll, employee benefits, vendor payments and ERP system implementation.
• Provide regular financial reports to management and governing bodies.
• Lead internal audit teams and enforce financial policies, SOPs and approval hierarchies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior financial management within a large, complex organization.
• Proven ability to develop financial strategies, oversee budgeting and ensure statutory compliance.
• Strong leadership skills to manage finance teams and coordinate with internal and external auditors.
• Experience handling research grants, endowments and fundraising initiatives.
