Chief Design Engineer – Architectural Projects (Industrial)

About the role

The Chief Design Engineer will lead the architectural design function for industrial and institutional projects, overseeing concept development, detailed design and construction documentation. Reporting to the Head of Department, the role ensures compliance with local and international safety, building and HSE standards while driving innovation and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop architectural concepts, presentation packages and detailed construction documents for all projects.
• Ensure designs comply with municipal bylaws, Indian and international building codes, fire and life‑safety regulations and project‑specific HSE practices.
• Plan and monitor departmental manpower, infrastructure needs and resource utilization.
• Mentor and evaluate sub‑ordinates, identify training needs and conduct performance reviews.
• Review and optimise man‑hour estimates, track trends and take corrective actions to avoid delays.
• Coordinate technical issues across disciplines and maintain quality management system (QMS) standards.

Required profile

• Architecture degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 15 years of professional experience, including at least 8 years in industrial architecture.
• Proven track record leading medium to large‑scale projects (4‑5 completed projects).
• Site experience and strong knowledge of development control rules.

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D Studio Max for 3D presentations.
• In‑depth knowledge of Indian and international building codes for industrial and institutional buildings.
• Expertise in fire and life‑safety standards and HSE design practices.
• Familiarity with Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
• Ability to produce detailed construction documentation and architectural concept designs.
