Cashier

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth functioning of the branch’s cash handling and customer service activities.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments, issuing acknowledgements.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain accurate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, end‑of‑day reconciliation and report in the Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, and promote bank products.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and internal policies.

Required profile

• Experience handling cash transactions and maintaining registers in a banking environment.
• Strong attention to detail for daily reconciliation and audit requirements.
• Ability to interact professionally with customers and identify cross‑selling opportunities.
• Understanding of banking regulations and internal cash‑management policies.
