Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Branch Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations in accordance with internal and external banking guidelines. Working at the branch counter, the role ensures accurate processing of deposits, withdrawals, cheque handling, and loan repayments while maintaining the required registers and performing end‑of‑day reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments according to EMI schedules and record them in the banking system.
• Maintain inward/outward cash registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the “End of Day” branch report and ensure vault security jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, explain repayment dates, promote new products and guide customers to alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies and defined turnaround times for cash transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slip accuracy for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Experience in cash handling and banking operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate registers.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers and cross‑selling services.
• Commitment to follow regulatory and internal compliance procedures.
