Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier will manage all cash‑related transactions for a bank branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position involves handling cheques, drafts, cash deposits and withdrawals, and maintaining accurate registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and cash deposits within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash and asset registers, and prepare requisition forms for the regional office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation and report in the Branch End‑of‑Day report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Assistant Branch Manager.
• Provide courteous customer service, explain repayment schedules, and promote bank products.
• Escalate customer queries and ensure compliance with all banking policies and regulations.
• Validate customer identity during cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in cash handling or banking preferred.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under defined turnaround times and maintain confidentiality.
• Good communication skills for interacting with customers.
