Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position ensures accurate processing, reconciliation and safe custody of cash while delivering courteous service to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain corresponding system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tally, prepare end‑of‑day reports and ensure vault operations in coordination with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, identify cross‑sell opportunities and educate them on new products and alternate channels.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times, compliance requirements and bank policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle cash accurately.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Understanding of banking procedures, compliance standards and internal controls.
• Capability to work collaboratively with branch staff and maintain confidentiality of cash and valuables.
