Cashier (Branch Banking)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for handling all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth functioning of the branch by managing cash flow, maintaining registers, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and update system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty cash, and asset registers; prepare requisition forms for the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and report results in the Branch report.
• Jointly manage the branch vault and cash custody with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, promote cross‑selling opportunities, and educate on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; banking experience preferred.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle cash responsibly and maintain confidentiality.
• Good communication skills for customer interaction.
• Team player who can work closely with branch staff.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using banking transaction systems and registers.
• Basic knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation.
