Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at a branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position supports the smooth functioning of the branch by handling cash, cheques, drafts, and other instruments, and by maintaining accurate registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and update system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; forward requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports, and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, address queries, and promote bank products and alternate channels.
• Ensure adherence to turnaround times, regulatory compliance, and bank policies for all cashier operations.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slip accuracy.

• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and adhere to banking regulations.
• Responsibility for safeguarding cash, keys, and valuables.
