Cashier – Branch Banking

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position ensures accurate cash handling, daily reconciliation, and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments for withdrawals within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and maintain appropriate system entries.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisition forms to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports and ensure accurate vault operations jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers, address queries, cross‑sell products and educate them on alternate banking channels.
• Ensure compliance with all regulations, bank policies and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity during cash withdrawals and verify deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling.
• Excellent customer service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with branch staff and senior officers.
• Understanding of banking procedures, compliance requirements and cash‑reconciliation processes.
• Reliability in safeguarding cash, keys and other valuables.
