Cashier (Bank Branch)

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch in line with internal and external banking guidelines. This full‑time position ensures accurate cash handling, end‑of‑day reconciliation, and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash for deposit challans.
• Maintain inward and outward cash registers, petty‑cash register, and assets register; submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare the End‑of‑Day branch report, and manage the branch vault jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Interact with customers during deposits and withdrawals, promote cross‑selling opportunities, and educate them on alternate channels.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, bank policies, and defined turnaround times for transactions.
• Validate customer authenticity for cash withdrawals and verify cash deposit slips for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and maintain detailed registers.
• Strong attention to detail for daily reconciliation and audit requirements.
• Good communication skills to assist customers and address queries.
• Willingness to work on‑site in a branch environment and adhere to bank security protocols.
