Buyer – Commodity & Supplier Management

About the role

The Buyer – Commodity & Supplier Management supports Ford North America operations by handling end‑to‑end purchasing activities. Working with regional suppliers, cross‑functional teams and Joint Venture partners, the role ensures uninterrupted plant supply while meeting cost and quality targets.

Key responsibilities

• Execute Purchase Orders (POs) and Tool Orders (TOs) aligned with demand, engineering changes and capacity needs.
• Validate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing for design changes and capacity increases.
• Proactively mitigate supply risks to guarantee continuous supply to Ford plants.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times for all purchasing activities.
• Identify and deliver cost‑saving opportunities supporting Target/Total Value Management objectives.
• Maintain 100% compliance with Ford purchasing policies, procedures and audit requirements.
• Collaborate with regional suppliers, internal stakeholders and JV partners to develop commodity and supplier strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of purchasing or buying experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and project‑management abilities.
• Flexibility to work across global time zones, including late‑night shifts.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Ariba.
• Solid knowledge of commodity and supplier management.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
