Branch Cashier – Banking Operations

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for executing all cash‑related transactions and operations at the branch, ensuring compliance with internal and external banking guidelines and maintaining accurate registers and system entries.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and process cheques, drafts, dividend warrants, pay orders and other instruments within authorized limits.
• Disburse cash for withdrawal requests and collect cash against deposit challans.
• Collect loan repayments as per EMI schedules and record them in the system.
• Maintain inward/outward registers, petty‑cash register, assets register and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily cash tallying, prepare end‑of‑day reports and ensure vault operations are carried out jointly with the Operations Officer.
• Provide courteous customer service, identify cross‑sell opportunities and educate customers on alternate channels.
• Escalate customer queries and grievances promptly to the appropriate authority.
• Adhere to defined turnaround times for all transactions and ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in cash handling.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet daily reconciliation deadlines.
• Understanding of banking procedures and regulatory compliance.
• Integrity and trustworthiness in handling cash and confidential information.
